My Paris visit
I’m Sandra, a Spanish student coming from Barcelona. I’m studying International trade, that is why is very important for my future career to speak different languages and know different cultures and way of life…
So,I decided to carry out a work placement in Paris in order to improve my French level and discover the French culture and this so beautiful city. I arrived in Paris the 21st of May and I stay here until the beginning of August.
Since the 21st of May, I’m working as an intern from Mondays to Fridays in a company specialised in hotels bookings.
Paris is a very beautiful city, too much things to do and places to visit. Indeed, Paris is stuffed of attractions. So, during my spare time, I go discovering Paris little by little.
Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées
I have visited the Arc de Triomphe and inside the Arch there is a small museum documenting its history and construction. It was very interesting. Them I climbed on the roof of the Arc and from there I could benefit a spectacular view of Paris. Looking eastwards, down the Champs Elysées, toward the Louvre, there is the Place de la Concorde, the Tuileries Gardens, and the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel. In the opposite direction - westwards - in the distance is its larger and newer cousin, La Grande Arche de la Défense.
Musée du Louvre
I have visited the inescapable Musée du Louvre: it’s the former home of the kings of France, is for two centuries one now of the largest museums in the world.
There, I have seen so many beautiful works in the 7 departments of the Louvre: Oriental antiques, Egyptian antiques, Greek, Etruscan and Roman antiques; Paintings, Sculptures and Objets d'Art from the Middle Ages to 1850.
After my visit, I went to the Carousel du Louvre (This is a large underground complex with stores, car parks and areas for exhibitions and prestigious events.) and then I ate in the peaceful and so pleasant Jardin des Tuileries.
Tour Eiffel
No one can say that he has visited Paris if he has not seen The Eiffel Tower and the Trocadéro. A particular place to be…In Paris and no where else…One can’t remain insensitive to this spectacle. From Trocadéro, a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower, the École Militaire, Montparnasse,…From the top of the Eiffel Tower, if as me you are lucky, you will benefit a sunny day and then an incredible and spectacular view of Paris. By night, Paris is transformed into the city of lights and it’s a great thing to see.
In each platform of the Eiffel Tower, we can find a restaurant, a bar, a souvenir shop and the office of Gustave Eiffel
Sacré Coeur et Montmartre
I have been to the highest point of Paris : “la butte de Montmartre and the Sacré Coeur”. From the top of the Dome, there is a panoramic view in all directions extending over 30 kilometers
I also get in the church and what an amazing spectacle :the interior of the church contains one of the worlds largest mosaics, and depicts Christ with outstretched arms. The nearby bell tower contains the ``Savoyarde''. Cast in Annecy in 1895, it is one of the worlds heaviest at 19 tons.
Montmartre is one of the most pleasant area to be in Paris. There are a lot o restaurants, cafés, souvenir shops,…and an interesting Dali Museum.
A gothic masterpiece. Notre Dame, a incredible church, I think that the most impressive thing is that it was built between the twelfth and fourteenth centuries (1163-1345). Road distances in France are calculated on the basis of the "0 km" marked on the square in front of the cathedral.
